Global warming, power crisis, rising costs...how do you keep having fun in the snow without taxing the planet so badly? 

Join the ranks of the nature powered sport of Snowkiting!  Expand the possibilities of your riding and venture into new terrain.  The Snow Farm's rolling hills provide the perfect venue to safely learn the sport of snowkiting.  Before long you'll be exploring into the backcountry with your own portable ski lift.  

Boarder Patrol offers lessons for anyone from complete beginners to those who have had some kiting experience or kitesurfers wanting to make the transition to snowkiting.

Intro to snowkiting lesson

The Intro to Snowkiting lesson is a 2 hour introduction to the sport of snowkiting.  We'll cover topics such as the weather, safety, snowkiting equipment and the theory behind power kiting.  This lesson is designed to get you to the point where you are ready to safely start flying the kite.  

Cost: $100

Snowkiting lessons 

We use a system of skill progression to ensure you don't miss out on any necessary skill.  Start at the beginning with an Intro lesson if it's your first lesson or pick up where you left off.  We'll tailor your lesson to match the level of your skills and experience.

Lessons are 4 hours and include:

Mountain Weather                                            

Understanding 'The Wind Window'                                             
Site & wind assessment
Rigging your own kite
Control bar & types of input
Self launch
Self landing
Safety systems
Deploying safety
Flying the kite to develop power
Getting traction while staying in control

Snowkiting Equipment included:  Kites, control bars and harnesses.

Cost:  $225 NZD Group lesson 2-4 students

$300 NZD Private Lesson

Advanced and private Instruction:

Individual lessons tailored specifically to your needs. $80 NZD per hour.  Minimum Lesson 1 hour.

Gear rental

$120 NZD kite and harness for up to 4 hours. Hire equipment is only available to students at the discretion of our instructors.  If you have not done a lesson with us then on your first hire you will be required to do a minimum of 1 hour lesson to show us you are competent to hire our kites, know how to use the safety systems and how to pack up the kite.  You will also be required to sign a liability waiver and leave a deposit to pay for any damage you may do to the kite.    We can also organize board, ski  and helmet hire.
